Throwback to last Saturday (27 Oct) when we had our Halloween interactive storytelling cum craft session! We read 《小不点和三个丑八怪》together, and then parents and kids were kept busy decorating their very own Halloween capes & sling bags! Special thanks to Maha Yu Yi 友谊书斋 for hosting us, and for the incredibly fun and enriching Trick or Treat learning trail! Every participant also went home with our Monster story pack, which not only contained the storybook that we read together, but also a drawing activity book and a wealth of complementary resources and craft activities both offline and online (accessible via their Dandelion member account)! Picture books are a great way for families to revel in the fun--and the spookiness!--of the Halloween season. Listed below are some of our favourite titles that will delight but won't frighten your kids! Book #1 《女巫扫帚排排坐》WHY WE LOVE IT

At Dandelion, we have always believed that the best gift we can give our children is the love for books & reading. This Children's Day, we were incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to be part of the wonderful celebrations at Maha Yu Yi bookstore, as well as at Toddlers Bash (organized by Supreme Parents, held at Bove by Spring Maternity)! 6 Oct (Sat) -《神奇蜡笔》storytelling session @ Maha Yu Yi bookstore Kids were treated to an interactive storytellnig session as part of Children's Day celebration organized by Maha Yu Yi bookstore! 《神奇蜡笔》is an entertaining read that tells of a strange man who had a new invention - magical crayons! A big thank you for the wonderful turnout at our Mid-Autumn Festival Interactive Storytelling & Craft Session last weekend! Everyone had a whale of a time reading the beautifully illustrated picture book《过中秋》and decorating their very own lanterns. The kids then went on a scavenger hunt while carrying their lanterns, and won prizes (even more books!) at the end of the activity! Every participant also went home with our MAF story pack, which not only contains the storybook that we read together, but also a festival-themed sticker activity book and a wealth of complementary resources and craft activities both offline and online (accesible via their Dandelion member account)! Th Mid-Autumn Festival really lends itself well to children’s books. There’s wonderfully evocative folklore, fun traditions involving delicious food and bright lanterns and an overall emphasis on spending time with family. Reading stories on the festival together with your child is a great way to introduce him/her to this widely celebrated Chinese traditional festival! Reading Together @ South West is an initiative by the South West Community Development Council to promote bilingualism through reading, as well as encourage quality family bonding time as a community. With support from the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism, library corners will be set up at 17 Residents' Committee (RC) centres around the district, and the new RC reading corners will also be used for monthly storytelling sessions and other culturally based family activities. On 1 September 2018, through collaboration with Singapore Book Council, our founder Miss Liang Huiyu conducted a storytelling training workshop for the storytelling volunteers from South West CDC. She shared her expertise and knowledge on children's picture books, as well as storytelling techniques that could engage the audience and make storytelling sessions fun, enriching and meaningful. We look forward to the upcoming sessions with them! We had a great day at Rosyth School conducting a Mandarin holiday camp for P1 & P2 students using our 《妈妈的小小向日葵》story pack! Activities included interactive storytelling, creative story writing through comic drawing, art & craft, show & tell, and many more! A big thank you to the wonderful parents and children for this memorable day! August passed in the blink of an eye! We had an extremely fruitful month, participating in multiple events, connecting with concerned parents, educators & storytellers, as well as preparing for an even more exciting last quarter of 2018!National Day @ Wan Qing Yuan It was great being back at Wan Qing Yuan again, this time to be part of their National Day celebration! We had an interactive storytelling session on one of our favourite local icons - the Merlion! We had a great time listening to the story《鱼尾狮不见了》(recently published local picture book for children!), drawing the amazing things the Merlion can do, and penning down words of appreciation for it! Free Audio Story with Speak Mandarin Campaign Our 2nd year collaborating with Speak Mandarin Campaign in producing audio stories for children! This year, we will be featuring 5 locally published children's picture books. The first audio story 《我一定能做到》is out on Speak Mandarin Campaign's Soundcloud account.
