We had a great day at Rosyth School conducting a Mandarin holiday camp for P1 & P2 students using our 《妈妈的小小向日葵》story pack! Activities included interactive storytelling, creative story writing through comic drawing, art & craft, show & tell, and many more! A big thank you to the wonderful parents and children for this memorable day!
August passed in the blink of an eye! We had an extremely fruitful month, participating in multiple events, connecting with concerned parents, educators & storytellers, as well as preparing for an even more exciting last quarter of 2018!
National Day @ Wan Qing Yuan
It was great being back at Wan Qing Yuan again, this time to be part of their National Day celebration! We had an interactive storytelling session on one of our favourite local icons - the Merlion! We had a great time listening to the story《鱼尾狮不见了》(recently published local picture book for children!), drawing the amazing things the Merlion can do, and penning down words of appreciation for it!

Dandelion @ Mother Tongue Languages Symposium 2018
Our founder, Miss Liang Huiyu, was invited to be one of the speakers at the Mother Tongue Languages Symposium. She conducted a Fun with Parent-Child Reading workshop, where she shared tips and techniques on how to make parent-child reading fun and meaningful!
We are delighted to share that Dandelion's founder Ms Liang Huiyu will be speaking at the Mother Tongue Languages Symposium 2018 organised by MOE this August!
The Mother Tongue Languages Symposium (MTLS) is an annual event co-organised by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the three Mother Tongue Language Learning and Promotion Committees (MTLLPCs), with the support from the Early Childhood Development Agency, the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism, Singapore Press Holdings and the National Library Board.
Into its seventh year, MTLS 2018 will continue to promote bilingualism and strengthen efforts by schools and the community in the teaching and learning of our Mother Tongue Languages amidst Singapore’s increasing number of English-speaking families.
lIn her sharing session, our founder Liang Huiyu will demonstrate how you can read effectively to your little one and inspire him/her in the learning of Chinese through storytelling. She will also be sharing on how you can pick the best books most suitable for your child and develop his/her interest in reading.

This is a story of generous Mr Schneider who had a basket of apples to give out for free. He wrote a note and left it on top of the basket. However, the wind blew the note away, and the sequence of events that happened thereafter turned out to be both hilarious and unbelievable. Simple yet wonderful, this story teaches us to be kind and generous, in a fun and engaging manner. Interactive elements include role-playing and a hands-on activity at the end of the story.
Admission is free but registration is required. Register at https://www.nlb.gov.sg/golibr…/e/interactive-cl-storytelling now!
It was full house at our 《朋朋爱盖章，砰!》and 《妈妈的小小向日葵》 storytelling sessions at 新加坡书展 Singapore Book Fair last weekend! We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, and were especially thrilled to see all the lovely parents and little ones who came down to support us!
The Singapore Book Fair is Singapore's largest book fair. Organised by Singapore Press Holdings, the Singapor Book Fair is now into its 33rd edition! This year's book fair moved to the heart of the Civic District, setting up shop at Capitol Singapore (Capitol Piazza & Capitol Theatre) and Chijmes.
Do remember to check out our partnering bookstore - Maha Yu Yi 友谊书斋's booths at B1 Kids Zone and Level 1 Capitol Theatre! The book fair runs till 31 May.
We spent a lovely afternoon last Saturday with the wonderful parents and children who joined our Mothers' Day special interactive storytelling cum craft session!
We read the heartwarming story《妈妈的小小向日葵》together, and the little ones also made beautiful and colourful flowers for their mommies!
Moreover, each participant received our《妈妈的小小向日葵》 story pack and can extend their learning at home with our specially designed post-reading activities. Parents also have access to the audio book and other online resources related to this story via their online Dandelion account that came with the story pack.
We had an amazing Sunday with the wonderful parents & toddlers who participated in our 《小白鱼过生日》interactive storytelling session for 18-36 month-olds!
We learnt the concept of Opposites, played games to reinforce the concepts and Chinese vocabulary learnt, and started out with the 1st activity in the 《小白鱼过生日》story pack! Many more exciting activities that Daddy and Mummy can carry out with the little ones at home post-event and post-reading!
If you had missed the session, fret not! look out for the release of our 《小白鱼过生日》story pack coming real soon at our online store!
ABOUT THE BOOK
《小白鱼过生日》is one of the titles from the Little White Fish series on concept board books for toddlers. It teachers young children about sea creatures and the concept of opposites through the story of Little White Fish planning for his second birthday and inviting his underwater friends to his party!
In conjunction with the launch of our CNY story pack《十二生肖谁第一》, we held 2 storytelling cum craft sessions at Maha Yu Yi Book Store (Singapore's largest Chinese children's book store) last weekend! The turnout was awesome and we had a great deal of fun!
We were immensely delighted to hear ooohs and aaahs from the little ones when they opened up their CNY story pack, which were brimming with exciting post-reading activities to let them learn more about the Chinese zodiac, as well as to understand more about Chinese culture and traditions.
After an interactive storytelling session led by our founder, Miss Liang Huiyu, the children completed their first activity (out of the five activities suggested in total) --- making their very own Chinese Zodiac Wheel! Then, using the wheel, they shared what their zodiac animals were, and earned themselves their very first sticker badge on their Dandelion literary log!
Parents were encouraged to complete the other story-related activities with their little ones back at home, and to fully utilize the complementary online resources that came with their story pack too!
We look forward to seeing everyone soon at our next storytelling session & story pack launch!
